About Francesca De Chiara

Francesca is a social researcher based in Europe. She holds a PhD in Sociology. Recently, she's been visiting fellow at the Department of Development Sociology – Cornell University (US). Her doctoral project – The World Bank: knowledge, technology and development in a multilateral institution – explored the evolution of the politics of globalisation, analysing the role of the World Bank, as a producer of knowledge. Past and present projects center on crucial sectors in development such as information technology and health. Her masters' dissertation - Digital dividends: Information and Communication Technologies as additional tools for development – focused on ICT4D iniatives in developing countries. In 2007 she also spent one academic year at University of Warwick (UK) – Warwick Business School, in the Institute of Governance and Public Management. Her experience, as an independent researcher, includes various collaborations with a private research institute and an Italian based think-tank.
